Addiction Therapy
Addiction is a complex and distressing condition that can affect just about anyone. It is a condition that creates isolation, secrecy and dishonesty.
Addictions come in many forms; not solely addiction to substances such as alcohol or drugs.
People can become addicted to work, sex and love, overeating, prescription/over the counter drugs, relationships, overspending, gambling or codependency.
It is extremely difficult for the addicted person to overcome an addiction without outside help.
If you, or someone you are close to displays the following characteristics then you/they are probably addicted.

- Increased tolerance to a substance or behaviour
- Loss of control (intention to just have one spirals out of control)
- Increased amount of time spent in pursuit of substances or behaviour
- Persistent desire and/or failure to cut down substance or behaviour
- Use or preoccupation interferes with or disrupts social, occupational, recreational activities
- Continues behaviour or substance use despite persistent physical or psychological problems caused.
- Continues use or behaviour despite significant others expressing concern
