You may be feeling sad, angry, scared or scarred by your experiences. Perhaps isolated because the outside world doesn't see or accommodate your emotional despair? It can feel daunting to ask for support when we feel we 'should' be coping and as a highly empathic, compassionate professional, I invite you to get in touch to see whether I can help you.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist having gained a Masters of Arts (MA) Degree in Clinical Counselling (graduated with distinction), from the University of Chester. This course is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

My academic research has focused on perinatal mental health and pregnancy loss and consequently I have a specific interest in this area of counselling including infertility, abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR, neonatal loss, post-natal depression and complex birth trauma.

I am a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to their ethical guidelines and professional standards and I am committed to anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice.

I am a registered member of BICA and The Foundation for Infant Loss.
I hold full professional indemnity insurance, enhanced DBS check and I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.

I am actively committed to my continuing professional development and I undertake regular training, supervision and workshops to broaden my knowledge and help my practice. I have completed several training courses on working with loss and grief, infertility and a number of courses with Child Bereavement UK in relation to supporting parents
through the neonatal experience, pregnancy loss and the death of a baby.

I have also completed the practitioner training certificate with The Foundation for Infant Loss.

As well as working in private practice, I work in a private fertility clinic, helping clients through the fertility journey of receiving donor sperm, eggs or embryos and dealing with loss. I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals through their unique reproductive experiences with warmth, compassion and a genuine understanding of the complexities this journey often presents.

Previously I have worked in general counselling for a charitable counselling service and also in a large hospice, providing counselling support to patients with cancer and family members.

There are many different approaches to counselling and psychotherapy, each with a slightly different perspective. Every therapeutic encounter is unique and there is no 'one size fits all'. I offer an integrative style of therapy, working from a loss and trauma informed background and drawing on techniques from a variety of therapeutic models, tailored always to suit you and to meet your specific needs.

I am experienced in supporting clients from many different backgrounds, at different stages of life, with a range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety, stress and panic
  • Low mood and depression
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Terminal illness diagnosis
  • Complex ongoing grief
  • Trauma
  • Shame
  • Relationship issues
  • Fertility issues
  • Pregnancy and infant loss

Whatever tragedy or trauma you may have been through; whatever emotional rollercoaster you may be travelling, I deeply acknowledge how lonely it may feel but you don't have to navigate your way forward alone. Talking to a professional counsellor encourages you to explore and understand your feelings, your needs, process your emotions and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. We can work together to gain perspective and to find coping strategies and different ways which will help you to move forwards in your life.

The relationship between client and counsellor is considered the most important factor in therapy and therefore choosing someone who feels right for you, where you are able to express yourself honestly and openly is critical.

I offer a free initial 20 minute consultation, without any commitment, either by telephone or zoom, so that we can begin to get to know each other and for you to decide if you feel this will be beneficial for you.
