WHY SEEK COUNSELLING? Everyone will inevitably experience times when they feel sad, anxious or angry. This is a normal reaction to adverse life events such as relationship/family breakdown, sudden life-changes or at times of extreme pressure. However if negative feelings begin to dominate your life and you feel unable to function normally either at home or at work, then it may be the right time to consider seeking help from a counsellor.

There has been a welcome shift in the way counselling is viewed, with increasing recognition that there is no shame in seeking the help of an independent, trained professional who can help someone work through their problems and manage the difficulties they may be experiencing. Many high profile figures in the corporate and sporting world are openly admitting to seeking therapy and recognising the benefits.

WHY CHOOSE ME? I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work within ethical guidelines and follow a code of conduct - see www.bacp.co.uk. I offer an unbiased, respectful, calm and highly confidential space in which my clients can explore and reflect on their lives, relationships, emotions and behaviour completely openly without fear of being judged.

I view myself as an eclectic counsellor, using a variety of techniques such as mind-mapping, writing, brainstorming, gentle challenge, goal-setting and relaxation exercises to help people cope with difficulties they are facing and explore how they can move forward with their lives.

HOW I WORK I offer a one hour introductory session during which we can get to know one another and see whether we develop the rapport needed for effective counselling. If you then decide that you would like to go ahead with the counselling, we can book sessions from week to week at a mutually suitable time.

Each subsequent session lasts for 50 minutes. Each session including the introductory session is £40 or you can book a block of six sessions for £220.
