About me

Welcome to my profile. I am a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I provide a confidential and safe environment for counselling, with a special interest in the areas of stress, anxiety and relationship issues. I also specialise in fertility issues and dealing with cancer.

After completion of my counsellor training I worked in the NHS as part of a primary mental health team providing counselling to staff on issues including relationship difficulties, depression, bereavement and loss, anxiety, stress and low self-esteem.

As well as my private practice, I now work for an organisation providing support to cancer patients and their families. I also work in a Fertility Clinic, specialising in giving support to those going through the fertility journey, dealing with loss and the implications of receiving donor sperm, eggs or embryos. I am a Member of the British Infertility Counselling Association.

I have previously worked in the law as a Solicitor, and drawing on that experience I now help those under stress to reduce it and build a more resilient approach to life issues.

I am a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.

How can counselling help?

Counselling is for anyone who feels they would benefit from talking to a professional counsellor about their concerns, worries and fears. The aim of my service is to help you understand your situation more clearly, explore how you got there, and then support you in finding your own solutions.

You may feel that life is just getting on top of you and you need some help to gain a different perspective. Or you may have a specific issue which may include:

  • Depression, low self-esteem, lack of confidence
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Stress/Anxiety
  • Fertility issues
  • Issues from childhood affecting you now
  • Anger and resentment
  • Bereavement and loss, feelings of huge grief
  • Work related issues, bullying
  • Life changes and future direction

How can Relationship Counselling help?

In my experience, the prognosis for effective change is related to the willingness of a couple to both engage with the problem. This starting point will then lead us towards focused work aimed at specific goals, with an opportunity to learn new problem solving strategies in a contained environment. I cannot 'fix' things, but will facilitate the process. My job is not to make judgements as to who is right or wrong, but to help you understand the way you relate to others and to respect one another's views.

How I work

In an initial session we can look at what you would like to get from counselling, the issues you bring and if the approach I offer is right for you. At each subsequent session, we can work together for you to gain insight and awareness of how to deal with these issues.

Sessions for individuals cost £50 for 50 mins. Couples sessions cost £60 for 60 mins or £90 for 90 mins. I offer short and longer term work. Some people benefit from just a few sessions while others continue for longer. At our first meeting, we can discuss the length of counselling and review it as the work progresses.

I integrate several counselling approaches which offer a flexible framework within which we can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
