Workshops

room 3

At The Hale Village Therapy Centre, we run workshops throughout the year. Currently we are running or planning:

Living With Teenagers. Thursday morning workshops for parents, teachers and carers. Cost £55 per workshop. Reduction if you book all of them. Next dates planned for January /February 2009

  • Workshop 1 Thursday 15 January 0930 - 1300
  • What's your parenting style? Do you tend to 'my way or the highway' or to 'anything for quiet life'? Dealing with problems if you and your teen's other parent have different approaches to parenting.
  • Repeating, repairing or rebelling - influences from our own childhood and how they affect our own parenting decisions.
  • Getting it 'right' and the 'good enough' parent. Nobody teaches us how to be parents. How do we know when what we are doing is 'good enough'?

  • Workshop 2 Thursday 22 January 0930 - 1300
  • Understanding teenager anger. Is a happy teenager necessarily a healthy teenager? We tend to praise the 'good' teenager for making our lives easier - but is 'goodness' necessarily a healthy thing?
  • Knowing your teenager - neuroscience and the changing adolescent brain. New research tells us that human brain is still developing until we are 25 and that the last part to 'grow up' is the bit that helps us to plan, organize and think through options and decisions.

  • Workshop 3 Thursday 29 January 0930 - 1300
  • Understanding and avoiding overindulgence: the modern day parent trap. How to raise respectful teenagers.
  • Providing or giving too much; being overprotective; doing too much; not letting teens make mistakes or take any risks; being inconsistent with rules and boundaries; little structure or soft structure.

  • Workshop 4 Thursday 5 February 0930 - 1300
  • Cycles of child development - how teenagers grow up and their need to 'recycle' old babyish behaviours. . What they need us to do and what isn't helpful.
  • Setting and maintaining limits and boundaries: entering into the 'ring' with your teenager to establish and agree sensible rules and realistic rules.
  • Encouraging autonomy - separating and letting go and why that can be painful - for them and for us.

'Humanity's spiritual journey is a long and arduous adventure through strange lands full of difficulties and surprises'

(Roberto Assagioli)

Every psychological system provides a vision for understanding the self and making meaning of our experiences past, present and emerging.

Assagioli and psychosynthesis offer the vision that our experiences can also be understood in a psychospiritual context; as spiritual awakening and the soul journey.

Throughout the year we offer weekend workshops using the tools and processes of psychosynthesis to explore in depth all aspects of being human, our psychospiritual journey and the issues we encounter along the way.
