Hello, and welcome to my profile.

With more than 25 years of experience working with children, young people and their families, I am a fully qualified and highly experienced therapist, with a background in child and family services.

I have worked as senior mental health practitioner in NHS CAMHS.

I currently work as an independent psychotherapist across Greater Manchester, providing child and family therapies, professional consultation and professional support at the above clinics, and within the school setting (both mainstream and specialist educational provisions).

I am an approved provider of therapy services for several local authorities, regional adoption services, fostering teams and several third sector organisations.

My approach is child centred and rooted in an understanding of child development and the challenges and tasks that children, young people and their parents face a different ages and stages of family life. I believe that a child’s emotional well-being and mental health underpins their ability to learn and develop satisfying relationships, to grow into healthy adults.

Recognising the individuality of children and working in partnership with parents, carers and, where necessary working with professional children’s services, is at the heart of the therapeutic work.

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy offers children and young people a calm, safe space when life feels emotionally heavy or confusing. It’s completely ordinary for children to go through moments of worry, sadness, or overwhelm.

Sometimes this shows up in big feelings or challenging behaviour, and other times it appears more quietly — a child becoming withdrawn, anxious, or not quite themselves.

With the support of family, school, and friends, these feelings often settle. But when they don’t, a different kind of help can make a real difference.

I understand that seeking support for your child’s emotional wellbeing can feel like a significant step, so I place great importance on openness and building trust from the very beginning.

Holding in mind your child or young person’s confidentiality, I work closely with parents, offering a review meeting each term to reflect on how therapy is progressing, and can also arrange some interim parent appointments.

These sessions give you a reflective space to think about family life, your child’s needs, and any worries you or they may be experiencing. These emotional struggles may relate to:

  • Anxiety, worry and low mood.Bereavement and loss.
  • Health concerns.
  • Emotional overwhelm and dysregulation.
  • Developmental challenges and neurodivergence.
  • Trauma or difficult life experiences.
  • Attachment and relational difficulties.
  • School based challenges or avoidance.
  • Peer relationship difficulties.
  • Family stresses and transitions.

My aim is to provide personalised therapeutic support that acknowledges the individuality of children, young people and families. I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can explore your concerns and to consider whether a further meeting would be a helpful way forward.
