I am an experienced and highly qualified psychotherapist with 7 years experience in working with people, in families, couples and individual settings. I can provide you with a caring and supportive environment to help you find a way through any difficulties you may be facing.

I have worked at Relate for the past 5 years where I have gained my psychotherapeutic qualifications. In the course of my career I have helped people with all aspects of therapeutic change.

How will Relationship Counselling help me?

Relationship counselling helps you to make the most of your relationships, past, present or future. It really depends what you want to get out of the counselling, but it is rare that you will leave therapy without feeling a positive change. For some people therapy transforms their relationships and their lives, others gain help to solve a specific problem and move forward with more confidence and less anxiety.

What can I expect from Family Counselling?

Every family member can expect to have a voice and be heard within family counselling. As a family counsellor I can help every one express the way they are feeling and help everyone cope better with the situation.

Family members bring support and love to each other but some times the relationships within the family become stressed and strained. This could be because of problems between siblings, or because of a separation or divorce.

Forming a new family is a challenge and family counselling can help with this as family members establish new connections, rules and boundaries. Family counselling helps you to understand and cope better with the stresses and strains of family life.

Parenting After Parting

  • How to tell your children you are separating
  • What children need
  • What children don’t need
  • Parental communication
  • Parenting from two homes
  • Dealing with contact
  • Support networks
  • The emotional separation
  • Moving on
  • How to make a parenting plan

I offer an information and guidance service for separating parents. Research has shown that separation does not need to damage children if these normal strong feelings can be managed around the children.

I aim to tailor the package to the individual. Typically this would consist of 3 one and a half hour sessions, Session 1 could cover the separation journey and the needs of the children, including how to tell your children that you are separating. Session 2 could look at some conflict management skills and how to have difficult conversations. Session 3 could look at the needs of the individual and moving forward. This session could also cover how to make a parenting plan.

This service works well along side mediation which can be more successful.

Ongoing counselling can continue after the initial 3 sessions if required.

Individuals can attend alone or together as a separating couple.

I am trained in the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) I trained with the renowned EMDR Masterclass. This is a proven process that can re-establish a healthy core belief about the self. EMDR can help with childhood abuse or neglect, natural disaster, assault, road traffic accidents, trauma and workplace accidents .Please visit my website for a full introduction to this powerful form of psychotherapy.

We are all relational beings and our lives are enhanced by our relationships, if our relationship to ourselves, our partners, families, friends and work colleagues are healthy, we are likely to experience feelings of well being and security. However, things can go wrong, as a result of pressures from inside or outside our relationships.

When this has happened I can help you with the issues within the relationship or the difficulties you are facing in the outside world, these may include:

  • Grief and bereavement
  • Communication and conflict issues
  • Divorce and separation
  • Life stages and life changes
  • Affairs
  • Loss of intimacy
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Pregnancy and birth issues
  • Step parenting
  • Work related problems
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma
  • Post traumatic stress

My therapeutic model is integrative which means that I can tailor my work with you and your unique experiences. I work with people over short or long term periods of time helping people with the changes that they identify as needing to make.
