I offer a warm counselling service in-person at the Hale Village Therapy Centre and online by Zoom or phone.

I use a tailored approach to support clients with a broad range of issues. I offer you a free initial phone consultation.

Why you might be thinking of counselling…

It’s very natural to feel worried, down, confused and frustrated at some time in our lives, most of us do. The stresses of modern life, particularly the challenges of the past couple of years, can simply become too much. When unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours start to affect your life and relationships with those around you, it may be time to consider getting help to make sense of what’s going on.

I will help you to gain the insight and clarity to find a positive way forward.

My interest is relationships; whether with ourselves, a partner/spouse, our parents or children. I often work with couples and individuals who are experiencing relationship issues and who may be facing difficult decisions about the future. I also help clients through the process of moving on from separation or divorce including navigating the often daunting process of dating and forming new relationships after the end of a long relationship. Relationship satisfaction has a profound effect on our wellbeing and ability to flourish in life.

I use a combination of therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs, to help you find ways to overcome relationship challenges and find more contentment.

My particular interests are –

  • Difficult feelings and emotions, anxiety and overthinking
  • Relationship issues: communication problems, domestic abuse,
  • Contemplating or moving on from separation and divorce
  • Navigating dating and new relationships after the end of a long relationship
  • Sex addiction/ compulsive sexual behaviour
  • Life transitions and changes, mid-life issues, feelings of being at a crossroads
  • Pregnancy and birth anxiety, birth trauma, postnatal depression, infertility, transition to parenthood
  • Menopause and women s health issues
  • Parenting difficulties, Co-parenting/children issues
  • Social anxiety and feelings of isolation: self-esteem and confidence issues
  • Issues arising from Covid, social anxiety, long Covid
  • Attachment issues
  • Existential fear/life meaning; social isolation
  • Grief and loss

My approach…

I tailor my approach to your needs, and I adapt it as necessary so that I am always supporting you in the best way possible. I use a combination of counselling approaches and can also use positive psychology and behavioural tools and strategies to help you work towards achieving the change you desire.

My experience and qualifications

In addition to my work in private practice, I work as a counsellor for a group of GP practices and with an NHS trust providing counselling to staff members. In these roles I see clients with the broad range of issues stated above.

A little about my prior experience

I have a rich and varied life experience which helps me to understand and connect with my clients. I have enjoyed previous careers in the corporate sector and in the NHS as a midwife and in education as a secondary school teacher.

I understand the particular demands of the health and education sectors and am particularly happy to support those working within these sectors.

I am warm and empathetic, and clients have described me as calm, compassionate and understanding. I aim to make you feel at ease quickly and offer you a safe supportive space to explore your concerns.
It’s important to find the right counsellor, please do get in touch so that we can have a chat to see how we might work together and how I can offer the support you’re looking for.

I currently have both daytime and evening availability.

I look forward to working with you.
